Inlecom leads new H2020 project CHARIOT in IoT

Cognitive Heterogeneous Architecture for Industrial IoT (CHARIOT) three-years project starts on the 1st of January 2018 and will provide a design method and cognitive computing platform supporting a unified approach towards Privacy, Security and Safety (PSS) of IoT Systems including the following innovations:

  • A Privacy and security protection method building on state of the art Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) technologies to enable the coupling of a pre-programmed private key deployed to IoT devices with a corresponding private key on Blockchain system.
  • A Blockchain ledger in which categories of IoT physical, operational and functional changes are both recorded and affirmed/approved by a combination of a cognitive engine and private key hashing between the cognitive engine and IoT devices to authorise change and, likewise, invalidating any and all other changes be they malicious or otherwise.
  • A fog-based decentralised infrastructure for Firmware Security integrity checking that leverages a Blockchain ledger to enhance physical, operational and functional security of IoT systems, including actuation and deactivation.
  • An accompanying IoT Safety Supervision Engine providing a novel solution to the challenges of securing IoT data, devices and functionality in new and existing industry-specific safety critical systems.
  • A Cognitive System and Method with accompanying supervision, analytics and prediction models enabling high security and integrity of Industrials IoT.
  • New methods and tools for static code analysis of IoT devices, resulting in more efficient secure and safer IoT software development and V&V.

Demonstrators

Three Living Labs will demonstrate realistic and compelling heterogeneous solutions through industry reference implementations at representative scale, with the underlying goal of demonstrating that Secure, Privacy Mediated and Safety IoT imperatives are collectively met, in turn delivering a key stepping stone to the EU’s roadmap for the next generation IoT platforms and services.

Partners

The CHARIOT consortium has been designed to deliver an ‘holistic approach that addresses Privacy, Security and Safety of IoT operation in industrial settings with safety critical elements’. Inlecom is the project coordinator and partners are:

  • IBM IRELAND
  • CEA
  • Athens International Airport
  • EBOS Technologies Ltd
  • VLTN GCV
  • BUSINESS-E SPA
  • TRENITALIA SPA
  • CLMS
  • ASPISEC SRL
  • TELCOSERV AE

CHARIOT has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme, H2020-IOT-2016-2017, IoT-03-2017, under the Grant Agreement No 780075

MaaS4EU kick off meeting

32 participants, representing the 17 MaaS4Eu consortium partners, got together on the 8th and 9th of June for a fruitful kick off meeting. The meeting was organized by the Project Coordinator, Intrasoft International, and took place at their premises at Paiania, Athens.

The main goal of the MaaS4EU project (End-to-End Approach for Mobility-as-a-Service tools, business models, enabling framework and evidence for European seamless mobility), is to provide quantifiable evidence, frameworks and tools, to remove the barriers and enable a cooperative and interconnected EU single transport market for the MaaS concept, by addressing challenges at 4 levels:

(1) Business,

(2) End-users,

(3) Technology,

(4) Policy.

This vision will be achieved by defining sustainable business models that support the cooperation across transport stakeholders, understanding user needs and choices, implementing the required technological infrastructure (a MaaS mobility hub) and identifying the enabling policy and regulatory frameworks. The project will provide quantifiable evidence about MaaS costs and benefits in 3 real-life, complementary pilot cases, demonstrating the concept in urban, intercity and cross-border trips at three EU areas (UK, LUX-DE, HU)

MaaS is a data-driven, user-centered paradigm. Inlecom as leader of WP5 - Enterprise Data Framework, presented the API of API's approach and infrastructure implemented in the EuTravel project, that will be extended in order to deal with interoperabillity challenges in the urban mobilitity conext and will underpin the operation of the MaaS4EU platform.

During the two-days sessions, MaaS4EU consortium partners were able to establish the common project vision, discuss the approach, management structure, critical milestones and dependencies, in order to set the 'way of working together', and agree on the action plan for the next months.

MaaS4EU has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Grant Agreement No 723176.

Inlecom participates in new H2020 research project MaaS4EU

MaaS is a user-centric, intelligent mobility distribution model, in which users’ needs are met via a single platform and are offered by a service provider, the mobility operator. The project will provide quantifiable evidence about MaaS costs and benefits in 3 real-life, complementary pilot cases, demonstrating the concept in urban, intercity and cross-border trips at 3 EU areas (UK, LUX-DE, HU).

The consortium consists of 17 partners from 9 countries, among them leading industries, renowned research institutions, transport authorities and operators, consultants and one ministry of transport.

Exploring business opportunities in China

INLECOM invited to explore business development opportunities in China. Yash Chadha, INLECOM’s Director of International Projects has spent 2 weeks in China participating with regional authorities, innovation parks and private companies seeking to explore innovative solutions in the Chinese market, and improved trading opportunities to and from Europe.

INLECOM is developing new products based on outputs from its research programmes and the Chinese collaboration brings new opportunities and interesting challenges. Past and current FP7 and H2020 projects covering single and multimodal collaboration ideas were presented as well as general business discussions.

To complete the trading opportunities, Yash Chadha also joined other invited European companies in joint discussions with Chinese counterparts, and extended discussions and exchanges in ideas to cover areas such smart cities, free trade zones and financial instruments within supply chain.

If you would like to collaborate with Inlecom in Europe or China, contact Yash Chadha, yash@inlecom.com

1st ELP Forum Results

The first ELP Forum took place at Brussels, on the 15th of November 2016, organized by the European Logistics Platform (ELP), hosted at the Microsoft center. More than 100 EU policymakers and industry stakeholders came together to discuss the future of logistics. Mrs. Ioanna Fergadioti from Inlecom Systems Ltd, attended the meeting on behalf of the SELIS project Coordinator.

Mrs. Violeta Bulc, the European Commissioner for Mobility and Transport, gave the keynote speech, pointing out the remarkable dynamics and changes unfolding in Europe today, especially in the area of logistics and digitalisation of transport.

A complete view of the Forum’s works and results can be found in the ELP Press Release.

The European Logistics Platform consists of more than twenty industry stakeholders representing a wide variety of actors involved in logistics and supply chains across Europe.
